Understanding Coffee Ratios
The "Golden Ratio" for coffee is typically considered 1:15 to 1:18. This means for every 1 gram of coffee, you use 15-18 grams (or ml) of water.
Brewing Methods & Ratios
Espresso: 1:2 (Very strong).
Aeropress / Moka Pot: 1:10 to 1:12.
French Press: 1:14 to 1:15 (Coarse grind).
Pour Over (V60/Chemex): 1:16 (Medium grind).
Auto Drip: 1:16 to 1:17.
Why Measure by Weight?
A "scoop" of coffee can vary wildly in weight depending on the roast level and grind size. Dark roasts are less dense than light roasts. For consistency, always use a gram scale!
