In many classes, grades are weighted by category. For example, Homework might be 20%, Quizzes 30%, and Exams 50%. This means a 100% on a quiz has more impact than a 100% on homework.
Grade = (G1 × W1) + (G2 × W2) + ...
Where G is the grade percentage and W is the weight (as a decimal).
To find out what you need on your final exam to reach a target grade, use this formula:
Final Score = (Goal - Current × (1 - W)) / W
Where W is the weight of the final exam (as decimal).
If your weights don't equal 100, calculate the sum of (Grade × Weight) and divide by the Total Weight.
